The Special Operations Division of CEMA handles all planned and non-planned emergency response functions. The division holds a number of stockpiled resources including:

• Traffic cones/barricades
• Shelter operations - cots, blankets, pillows, etc. 
• Incident Command Post - tent, communications, generators, maps
• Radiation detection equipment
• Medical equipment
• Portable laptops 
• Water/food

Special Operations is the group that responds when requested by either police or fire units. A deployment to the field is usually triggered by an event lasting several hours that effects the greater public. Deployments in the past have consisted of missing persons searches, large structure fires, significant weather events, power outages, road closures, and so on.
